Jammu and Kashmir: Two pilgrims killed, six injured in road accident in Kishtwar

JAMMU: Two pilgrims were killed and six injured on Tuesday when their vehicle on way to Mindal Mata temple met with an accident in Kishtwar district of Jammu and Kashmir.

Police said, "The vehicle (JK02VJ4112) ferrying eight Mindal Mata pilgrims from Jammu met with accident near Shanderi Nalah in Atholi area of Kishtwar and resulted into death of two pilgrims."

On receiving the information, the locals and police rushed to spot and started rescue operation.

Police said, "One of the dead was identified as Mangat Ram (55), son of Anant Ram, a resident of Lower Muthi, Jammu while identity of the other yet has to be ascertained."

Meanwhile injured Rakesh Kumar (38) of Rajpura Jammu; Vipul Khajuria (23) of Subashnagar, Jammu; Suraj Parkash (54) of Dhab Sudan, Jammu; Krishan Lal (64) of Peermitha, Jammu; Mewa Ram (45)of Mishriwala, Jammu and Vijay Sharma (28) of Dhab Sudan, Jammu where evacuated to District Hospital (DH) Kishtwar for further medicare.

Concerned Police have registered a case in this regard and started further investigations, police added.
