JAMMU: Three children were among four people killed and 15 others injured when a passenger auto was hit by the truck in Samba district of Jammu and Kashmir on late Friday night, police said on Saturday.
"During the late Friday night, a family from village Mandal was travelling in a passenger Auto (JK21A-2268) for attending a family function held at village Rakh Amb Tali area of Samba district," police said adding, "When the auto reached near New Bus Stand Samba, suddenly a truck hit it from the rear side and the impact of the collision was so high which resulted in injuries to 18 passengers travelling in it."
On receiving the information, police and locals rushed to the spot and evacuated the injured to District Hospital (DH) Samba where the doctor declared three children and one female as brought dead.
Police said, "The deceased have been identified as Suman Devi (40), wife of Shiv Dayal of Khadgal, Rahul (08), son of Tarsem Lal, Muskan (05), daughter of Tarsem Lal and Krish (05), son of Ramesh Lal all residents of Jaswal Mandal.
The injured have been identified as Geeta Devi (70), Minakashi Devi (12), Veena Devi (40), Usha Devi (42), Rekha Devi (35), Neha Devi (26), Geeta Devi (34), Ritika (7), Jyoti Devi (30), Garo Devi (48), Jyoti Devi (70), Champa Devi (58) all residents of Jaswal Mandal Samba, Arshi Devi (15), Neha Devi and Shani Devi (40)of Manore Samba.
"Four persons suffering critical injuries have been referred to the Government Medical College and Hospital (GMC&H)Jammu for specialized treatment," police added .
