Jamie Oliver 'better than ever' as he 'moves on' after 'pain' of failed restaurants

Jamie Oliver faced a massive blow last year when he was .

The closures of his dining chains in May led to a loss of 1,000 jobs after years of falling profits.

Now the celebrity chef, 44, has told how he is in a 'really good place' thanks to his wife Jools, 45, and their kids Poppy, 17, Daisy, 16, Petal, 10, Buddy, nine and River, three, as he 'moves on' from the 'pain' of 'hemorrhaging cash.'

“I’m really good,” he shared with PEOPLE, “Better than I’ve been in a long, long time.”

Explaining how the business disaster taught him a lesson, he told: "When you’re tested like I’ve been, all that matters is friends, family and health."

He added: “We smashed it for eight years, and we struggled for four years, the pain’s gone. The hemorrhaging of cash is gone. And there’s a result. It’s not the result I wanted, but now you move on.”

The cheeky cook also added that he is grateful to have had a "masterclass in the best and worse" so that he can grow.

Jamie's Italian made headlines on May 21, when the company announced it had hired KPMG to handle its insolvency process.

It came a year after the firm shuttered 12 of its 37 sites, recording debts of more than £71million.

After its collapse, his flagship London restaurant was cleared out by bailiffs.

Meanwhile, staff at a branch in Birmingham claimed they were sacked by email just 30 minutes before the announcement went public

According to Companies House, Jamie Oliver Holdings turned over £32million last year - equivalent to £87,670 a day.
