Jamie Carragher sends warning to Liverpool about Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Alexandre Lacazette

Jamie Carragher believes Liverpool's uncharacteristic defensive frailties could be punished by Arsenal in their Premier League clash at Anfield.

The top two meet on Saturday, with both teams looking to maintain their 100% record, having won their opening league games this season.

Jurgen Klopp's side boasted the best defence in the league last season, shipping only 22 goals on their way to an impressive 21 clean sheets and 97 points.

But Liverpool are yet to keep a shut-out this season, conceding four goals in three games including the Super Cup.

Unai Emery: We never want to play against Liverpool

The injury to Alisson Becker has had an impact on the Reds' backline, with the Brazilian goalkeeper's authority and quality on the ball a big miss.

Adrian, signed as a free agent in the summer, is set to start again between the sticks despite his mistake against Southampton at the weekend.

And speaking on Sky Sports Monday Night Football, Carragher says his former club could be punished against Unai Emery's side if they don't improve at the back.

"When you think of Aubameyang, Lacazette, Pepe maybe coming on also," he said.

"When I say Liverpool have got away with it, the quality of the opposition hasn't been top class, and I said it after the Norwich game, if they were playing a top team today, they wouldn't have won. Considering they won 4-1, it's a big thing to say I suppose.

"But the quality Arsenal have, if Liverpool get caught in those positions and don't run back they're going to have major problems within the game.

"Of course, Liverpool are going to cause big problems going the other way I have no doubt about that, but the chances, the shots on goal they're allowing at this moment, better quality teams, better quality strikers are going to make Liverpool pay."
