James Milner delivers defiant message and laments excuses amid Liverpool's poor form

James Milner has urged Liverpool players and fans to stick together as he made his feelings known following the loss to Burnley.

The Reds failed to score for a fourth straight league game and saw their long unbeaten home run ended by the Clarets.

Ashley Barnes' penalty sealed a 1-0 win and meant Jurgen Klopp's side lost further ground in the title race.

Their alarming form has resulted in some harsh criticism but Milner has cited the club's moto as he issued a battle cry on Twitter.

He said: "You’ll Never Walk Alone is more important than ever right now. No good comes from feeling sorry for ourselves and excuses won’t help.

"It’s on us, all of us, to fight our way back. We’re at our strongest when we are one force- players & supporters, TOGETHER #UnityIsStrength #YNWA ".

Liverpool have drawn two and lost two of their last four in the league.

They currently sit six points off leaders Manchester United ahead of their FA Cup trip to Old Trafford this weekend.

Klopp accepted blame for the reverse, their third this season, following their surprise loss

"The game was impossible to lose, but we did," he told  Sky Sports .

"That's my fault because it's my job to make sure the boys have the right feelings, the right amount of confidence and make the right decisions.

"That obviously didn't work out because we had the ball a lot, created some situations that were OK, but in the final moment or decision-making is not right at the moment, and that's the problem.

"You have the ball in the right place but then you don't shoot, you pass. I'm pretty sure I said the same thing last week.

"When you have the problem of something not working you have to try harder, longer and more often and make better decisions.

"It's obviously didn't work out tonight and we have to admit that, there's nothing else to say about it."
