James Léa Siliki 'wanted' by Celtic as 'transfer approach' made for Rennes midfielder

Celtic have made an approach for Rennes midfielder James Léa Siliki - according to a report.

The 23-year-old is highly rated by his club and made 34 appearances in all competitions last season.

Porto had an €8million bid turfed out and Rennes are believed to want significantly more for their star turn, report French outlet RMC.

Celtic are keen on Brentford star Romaine Sawyers but could be on the look for central players with Olivier Ntcham desperate to leave Parkhead.

Neil Lennon has already splashed £10m on Christopher Jullien and Boli Bolingoli-Mbombo this summer and is on the hunt for more fresh faces to boost his side's Champions League qualifying push.

Ntcham himself was subject of an offer from the Portuguese big boys last summer and reports in France suggest Marseille's interest has reportedly cooled.

Léa Siliki, who came through the ranks at Guingamp, has also been attracting interest from teams in England. And Celtic will get a close look at him with the Hoops set to face the French side at Parkhead on Saturday.

Hoops boss Lennon admits the search never stops to find new players.

He said; "The work we are doing is non-stop. The phone is going constantly and we are trying to negotiate deals and find ones who suit the way we play."
