James Corden speaks about plans for more Gavin and Stacey at the Oscars

James Corden spoke about the possibility of more Gavin and Stacey episodes on the Oscars red carpet last night and his answer is sure to disappoint fans.

James, 41, chatted to the BBC about the prospect of more episodes being written in the future with his co-writer Ruth Jones.

The recent Christmas special was the most watched comedy in 17 years and attracted 18.49m viewers and ended on a cliffhanger, leading many people to think another series was in the pipeline - reports Wales Online.

But speaking last night at the 92nd Academy Awards ceremony James said: "I'm being completely honest, there are no plans to do any more because a lot of it is about time and distance.

"I think Ruth [Jones] and I, if we ever were going to do any we approach it in the same manner we did the last one to try and just do it on our own and see if we felt we had something that wouldn't ruin it.

"Because it's all well and good people saying that they would like another one, and that is hugely flattering, but they only want one that doesn't tarnish it in any way.

"So we're going to really try our best to give it some thought at the least, but there is no plans - as it stands right now - to ever make another one."

Last month Ruth Jones appeared at the National Television Awards, where the show won the impact award and told the audience the same thing, that there were no plans for another special.

She said: "We don't have any plans at all (for a new series). That's the truth.

"We still have the same situation, which is that James and I live on different continents, so getting together to write is very difficult, so who knows? At the moment there are no plans."
