James Caan sells Beverly Hills home to Doug Ellin

March 30--James Caan, a popular leading man for decades, has sold his home in Beverly Hills for $3.8 million to Doug Ellin, the creator of "Entourage," The Times has confirmed.

The updated Traditional, built in 1948, retains its classic styling. A sprawling 5,146 square feet of interior space includes a living room, a family room with a fireplace, a den with a fireplace and an eat-in kitchen.

The master suite features vaulted beamed ceilings and dual closets for a total of five bedrooms and five bathrooms.

Set behind gates on a nearly half-acre lot in Benedict Hills, the property is obscured from the street by lush landscaping. French doors at the back of the house open to a covered lanai, lawn, a swimming pool and a spa.

Caan, 74, is recognized for his roles in "A Bridge Too Far," "Brian's Song" and "The Godfather," for which he received an Oscar nomination. He was in the 2013-14 television series "Back in the Game." His 2015 films will include "The Throwaways," "Wuthering High" and "Minkow."

The property was purchased in 2003 for $2.25 million, public records show, and came on the market in mid-March at $3.995 million.

David Friedman of Keller Williams and Paul Czako of Gussman Czako Estates were the listing agents. Ginger Glass of Coldwell Banker represented the Ellin.
