James Borrego on the Hornets: ‘This team has fight. This team belongs’

Despite a rocky preseason, the Charlotte Hornets jumped out to a hot start in the regular season, winning their first three games.

On Monday, the Hornets suffered their first loss to the Boston Celtics in overtime, 140-129. In the extra period, the battle-tested Celtics jumped out to a lead, which looked to fluster the younger, less experienced Hornets team.

“We gave ourselves a great opportunity to win this game and fell a little short,” James Borrego said. “We’ll learn from it, but I love the spirit and the effort right now.”

Dealing with injuries to start the season, as Terry Rozier has missed three of the first four games, and acclimating new key role players in Kelly Oubre Jr., Mason Plumlee, and Ish Smith, a 3-1 start isn’t something to be disappointed in and James Borrego knows that.

“This team has fight. This team belongs. We’re not going anywhere.”
