Jalen Ramsey is thrilled with Rams’ hiring of Raheem Morris

After reports surfaced this week that the Rams were honing in on Raheem Morris as their next defensive coordinator, the team made it official on Thursday. They have agreed to terms with Morris, bringing him onto Sean McVay’s coaching staff for the 2021 season.

He inherits a defense that ranked first in the NFL in points allowed, yards allowed and passing defense, led by two studs: Jalen Ramsey and Aaron Donald. There will certainly be some changes made by Morris as he takes over for Brandon Staley, who is now the head coach of the Chargers, but Ramsey can’t wait to see what the future holds with Morris at the helm.

He shared this tweet Thursday after the Rams announced the hiring.

Morris joins the Rams after being the Falcons’ interim coach for 11 games following the firing of Dan Quinn. Prior to Quinn’s firing, Morris was his defensive coordinator for the first five games.

Though Morris and Ramsey haven’t been on the same team in the NFL, Morris’ track record as a defensive backs coach should bode well for Los Angeles’ secondary – which was undoubtedly one of the league’s best this season.
