Rock It Games is bringing back a classic from the early days of soccer gaming with the return of Jaleco Sports: Goal!, a bundle that combines the original Goal! from the NES (1989) and its SNES follow-up from 1992, known as Super Goal! in Europe. The re-release is available now on Steam and GOG for $10.39, a 20% discount. Versions for PlayStation 5 and Nintendo Switch are set to arrive later this summer.
Goal! stood out for offering one of the more realistic soccer experiences of its time. The NES version featured 16 international teams battling for the World Cup, along with a U.S.-focused tournament mode and a Shootout option that put players up against defenders and a goalkeeper.
The SNES sequel expanded on that foundation with side-scrolling gameplay, 24 international squads, instant replays, and a full-field radar. It also gave players more tactical control with four defensive formations and deeper gameplay options.
The Goal! series made a name for itself with its fresh take on soccer sims, giving each team players with different skill ratings for things like dribbling, shooting, speed, defense, and control. The SNES version took things up a notch with better graphics, new camera angles, and more depth in how the game played.
