Japan Airlines Co. is likely to post consolidated net losses of around 85 billion yen in its core business for the July-September period, it was revealed on Saturday.
The ongoing slump in the number of passengers on international flights, due to the coronavirus pandemic, continued to batter the company's earnings.
The July-September figure comes on the heels of the 131 billion yen loss JAL suffered in the April-June period.
However, the quarterly deficit was reduced in July-September. The company is thought to have been helped by some recovery in domestic flights, thanks to the government's Go To Travel campaign launched on July 22 to support the tourism industry, as well as cost-cutting efforts in response to the pandemic.
