Jake Ryan departure closes book on Packers’ 2015 draft class

Jake Ryan’s new deal with the Jacksonville Jaguars will officially close the book on the Green Bay Packers’ 2015 draft class.

Ryan, a fourth-round pick from Michigan, is expected to sign with the Jaguars, pending a physical. He was the last remaining player from the Packers’ 2015 draft class on the roster.

Here’s the aftermath of the disastrous class:

1.30: DB Damarious Randall: Traded to Browns (March 2018)
2.62: CB Quinten Rollins:
Released (September 2018)
3.94: WR/RB Ty Montgomery:
Traded to Ravens (October 2018)
4.129: LB Jake Ryan:
Signed by Jaguars (March 2019)
5.147: QB Brett Hundley:
Traded to Seahawks (September 2018)
6.206: FB Aaron Ripkowski:
Released (September 2018)
6.210: DL Christian Ringo:
Released (September 2017)
6.213: TE Kennard Backman:
Released (September 2016)

The Packers traded Randall for backup quarterback DeShone Kizer, Montgomery for a seventh-round pick in 2020 and Hundley for a sixth-round pick in 2019, so there’s still a small chance current GM Brian Gutekunst can salvage something from one of Ted Thompson’s worst draft classes.

Ryan, who started games at linebacker during each of his first three seasons in Green Bay, tore his ACL in training camp last summer and missed the entire 2018 season.
