Jake Quickenden and his girlfriend Sophie Church have spoken of their heartbreak after suffering a miscarriage last year.
The former X Factor singer's girlfriend admitted she was hit hard following the secret loss of their baby.
Sharing the exciting news that they are now expecting a child together, Sophie and Jake have opened up about starting a family in a candid interview with Hello! magazine.
The couple also revealed that they had been worried because of their earlier loss, but were relieved to have finally had their baby scan.
"Even though I was only six weeks pregnant it really hit me hard," Sophie told the publication about the couple's secret loss.
She continued: "With this pregnancy we still carry that worry, so it was nice to have the scan and know that everything is okay.
During the interview, Sophie opened up about the couple's efforts to start a family.
"We had been trying for a year and a half and I was doing ovulation tests and everything and Jake said: 'Stop putting pressure on us, it will happen when it's meant to happen.' But when you really want something it's so hard to not feel disappointed every month."
Jake and his beauty therapist girlfriend are set to welcome their first child together after nearly two years of dating.
The couple went Instagram official in October 2018 and have been smitten ever since.
Sophie already has a six year old son from a previous relationship and the pair are looking forward to expanding their brood.
Jake, who has starred on Dancing On Ice and I'm A Celebrity in the past, revealed he was excited to become a dad for the first time and was more than ready for the task.
In his interview he said: "It's something I've always wanted to do and I feel completely ready for it."
Jake later added: "a few of my friends are having babies at the same time, including my best mate, so we will be the dads at the park, not really knowing what we're doing but trying our hardest."
