Jake Paul explains why Tyron Woodley's tattoo wasn't enough to earn rematch

Jake Paul has told Tyron Woodley he missed out on a rematch because he took too long to have his tattoo inked.

Paul defeated Woodley back in August by split decision in Cleveland with the pair verbally agreeing to a rematch in the ring at the end of the fight.

But this was subject to the former UFC champion meeting the conditions of a tattoo bet that was agreed in the build-up to the bout.

However the YouTube star has explained he was already negotiating a fight with Tommy Fury when Woodley posted a photo of his new ink.

“By the time he got the tattoo we had already moved on,” Paul told TMZ Sports. “We had already moved on to fighting Tommy Fury and making the negotiations happen.

“I don’t think people really want to see Tyron vs Jake Paul again so he has had his chance.”

Woodley had the tattoo inked in the aftermath of the loss on his index finger, before posting it on social media and requesting a second tilt.

However the ink failed to meet the conditions of the bet when it seemingly fell short of the "3x2 inches" requirement Paul previously stated.

The 24-year-old will now face Fury next after the fight was confirmed for December 18 in Florida.

And it looks as if Woodley will completely miss out on the chance to avenge his defeat, opting instead to feature on an alternative boxing card next year.

But Woodley's manager has criticised Paul for "avoiding" the rematch labelling Fury as an "easier" fight.

Kawa told The Schmo : "Jake Paul's a b****! I don't know, man. We went and got the tattoo like he asked. We were waiting on the paperwork but then he wanted to fight Tommy Fury – which we all know is a much easier fight.

"You know what I mean? Him and his manager, they don't wanna make the fight happen. So whatever. I got something for Tyron, though. Something new is coming up.

"His next fight is four weeks away, I cannot announce it yet as he will be headlining this new promotion in four weeks time, but it might be a big name boxer vs Woodley."

Paul is now set to face arguably the toughest challenge of his career with his 22-year-old opponent Fury having a natural background in boxing.

But his experience is similarly limited having just seven professional fights under his belt against low-level opposition.

However Fury will have the backing of brother and heavyweight champion Tyson Fury in his corner, with the pair having begun training in the UK.
