Jake Mulraney on the lift his new Hearts squad number has given him this summer

Hearts winger Jake Mulraney has a new squad number and it’s given him a confidence boost already.

The Irishman has been handed the number 11 shirt after wearing 23 last season.

He also scored his second Hearts goal as Craig Levein’s side netted seven without reply in the first game of their week-long Irish tour against Shelbourne last night.

The player ended his first season at Tynecastle in good form. The initial signs are that he might be about to carry that in the new season, and that his new number gave him an unexpected boost.

“it’s always nice when little things like that come about,” he told Hearts TV. “It shows that the gaffer has a little bit more belief and a little bit more confidence in me than I actually thought.

“I just want to continue on from last season. To continue making an impact, get more goals, more assists and just to continue how I finished really.

“The aim is to first of all create more chances for the team but also to take more shots on myself then I suppose more goals should come with that.

“I’ve just been trying to get myself back in to. I missed the last three days but it was good to get 45 minutes in last night.”
