Jaguars RB Snoop Conner talks about getting drafted and his running style

The memory of being selected in the NFL Draft is something most players will never forget. Many prospects hold a watch party at home with friends, families, and coaches but not running back Snoop Conner.

In an appearance on “Into the Night with Rick Ballou” on 1010XL, Conner said that he was picking up Wingstop when the Jaguars called to let him know that they would be selecting him in last month’s draft. Additionally, Conner talked about his style as a running back.

The Jaguars took the former Ole Miss tailback with the 157th overall pick in the fifth round of the 2022 NFL Draft. They selected Conner because they need another running back as James Robinson and Travis Etienne are returning from season-ending injuries.

With the Rebels, he only recorded 304 rushing attempts in his three-year career while running for 1,580 yards and 26 touchdowns. Conner also accumulated 32 passes for 225 receiving yards. He enters the NFL labeled as a one-cut runner by many scouts. Conner said he can do it all but prefers running toward the end zones instead of the sidelines.

“My main game is probably as a one-cut running back and try to run north and south,” he said. “I ain’t no guy that’s going to try to dance around you. I’m trying to score touchdowns, ain’t trying to dance.”

Conner should get a good look from the coaches as Robinson is currently recovering from an Achilles tear that he sustained in December. He won’t be back until around training camp, and Conner’s physical style matches his, which gives Etienne a good change-of-pace partner.

With rookie minicamp coming up, Conner will be one of the key names to watch this week. Alongside center Luke Fortner, Conner is the only addition the Jags made on the offensive side during the draft, so it would be huge if he’s one of the standouts this offseason.
