Jaguars fall to No. 24 in USA TODAY’s Week 1 power rankings

It has only been one week in the NFL and it appears that the Jacksonville Jaguars are not garnering the love of the national media.

24. Jacksonville Jaguars

Rookie QB Gardner Minshew surprisingly solid in relief of Nick Foles. Minshew must step up further with consecutive AFC South games on tap.

In the most recent USA Today power rankings, the Jaguars are ranked 24th out of 32 teams, falling just behind the Oakland Raiders and finishing a spot above the Cincinnati Bengals.

The Jaguars opened the season at No. 17, but after a demoralizing loss at home from the Kansas City Chiefs and the multi-week loss of starting quarterback Nick Foles, the Jaguars have started to fall out of favor from the national pundits and have tail-spun themselves into the bottom half of the power rankings.

On the bright side, the Jags have the best finish out of all of the Florida-based NFL teams as the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and the Miami Dolphins rank No. 31 and No. 32, respectively.

The season is still young and the Jaguars have plenty of weeks to improve their position on the rankings.
