The Jacksonville Jaguars dished out big money left and right during the 2022 offseason and it yielded results with Christian Kirk, Evan Engram, and Foye Oluokun all having career-best seasons in Duval.
Left guard Brandon Scherff, a five-time Pro Bowler during his time in Washington, didn’t have a career year. But the high priced acquisition stabilized the Jaguars’ offensive line and his impact could be felt at more than just right guard.
With the 31-year-old veteran, who immediately earned captaincy in his first season in Jacksonville, up front, the Jaguars also got stellar play out of right tackle Jawaan Taylor and a surprisingly strong season out of rookie center Luke Fortner.
Scherff may be on the back end of his career, but the Jaguars will hope that his experience and leadership helps first-round pick Anton Harrison hit the ground running too.
Contract (2023): $1.165 million base salary, $5 million prorated signing bonus, $1 million roster bonus, $500,000 workout bonus, $2,467,000 prorated restructure bonus, $10.132 million cap hit.
Acquired: Jaguars signed Scherff in free agency on March 16, 2022.
