Jadon Sancho 'to leave Borussia Dortmund next summer' as Man Utd and Man City prepare transfer battle

Borussia Dortmund star Jadon Sancho is set to leave the club next summer, according to reports.

The 19-year-old, who left Manchester City for £7million in 2017, has caught the eye of Europe's top clubs since making the switch to Germany.

And the Daily Mail reports that the new campaign is set to be the England international's last with Lucien Favre's side.

According to the publication, the Bundesliga club know they will struggle to keep Sancho beyond this season and have already started their search for a suitable replacement.

It is claimed that former side City and Manchester United are among the clubs who are set to join the race for the teenager, who is also attracting interest from other leading sides across the continent.

However, with the winger under contract until 2022, it is reported that any team that wants to sign him will have to pay in excess of £100m.

United's interest in the Sancho has been well-documented and the Red Devils reportedly considered an approach in the recent transfer window.

And according the Mail, sources have suggested Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's side are currently leading the race for teenager and will revisit a move next summer.

However they are expected to face fierce competition from their local rivals, who Sancho left to join Dortmund.

It is understood that the deal that saw the winger leave the Etihad Stadium included a clause which entitles City to be informed if the German giants accept an offer and given the chance to match it.

Sancho has gone from strength to strength with Dortmund, scoring 15 goals and providing 24 assists in 57 first-team appearances for the Bundesliga club.

In addition to establishing himself as one of the most exciting young players in Europe, his performances have also seen him earn six caps for Gareth Southgate's England side.

Dortmund chief executive Hans-Joachim Watzke revealed earlier this week that they recently rejected an approach for the winger .

He told Ruhr Nachrichten ( via MEN ): "A chief of one of the super clubs asked me back in spring if there was a chance [to sign Sancho] but I told him straight away he should forget about it and he never contacted me again.

"He knew I meant what I said."
