Borussia Dortmund’s sporting director has insisted that there will be no change in their stance on Manchester United target Jadon Sancho’s future before Monday's transfer deadline.
Michael Zorc insists that Sancho will not be leaving Signal Iduna Park after United failed to meet their €120m asking price before their deadline of 10 August.
Despite this public stance from Dortmund, negotiations have continued but United are yet to meet the Bundesliga club’s demands, which Old Trafford officials believe are unrealistic in a market affected by the coronavirus pandemic.
In a press conference on Friday afternoon, Zorc maintained that Dortmund's position had not changed and that there would be no further developments in the coming days.
"Of course we communicated with Manchester United in the past," Zorc said.
"But everything there is to tell on this matter from our end has already been said. And that won't change over the next three days."
Dortmund are in a position of strength in the negotiations with Sancho’s contract only set to expire in 2023, while United are eager to add a right-winger to their squad before Monday’s deadline.
The Old Trafford club are understood to have agreed personal terms and a fee for Sancho’s agents, but Dortmund’s reluctance to lower their asking price has proved to be a stumbling block.
United have monitored alternatives to Sancho throughout the window in case Dortmund could not be persuaded to lower their demands.
Barcelona’s Ousmane Dembélé is a potential option and has been closely watched since early summer, though United are thought to be only considering a loan for the 23-year-old.
