Jacob Rees-Mogg's rival candidate Bill Blockhead refused entry to North East Somerset election count

Bath protest candidate Bill Blockhead said he was "perturbed" to be barred from the election count.

The independent claimed he had been blocked from entering the hall at the University of Bath where the votes are being verified and counted.

But a spokesman for Bath and North East Somerset said the anonymous individual would be allowed in - if he removed his costume.

Bristol Live understands Bill will not go in without his head on.

Mr Blockhead said: "I think this campaign has gone pretty well. There's been quite a lot of support, particularly for leaving the solar system.

"My policy on guinea pigs has gone down incredibly well, I think Boris might adopt it. We're thinking of sending him some guinea pigs in a parcel.

"I'm a bit perturbed that we haven't been allowed into the count.

"We were expecting to be able to go in. Our heads had been open for inspecting.

"Lord Buckethead has been on stage next to Theresa May. I find it quite disturbing.

"It's an art performance. Completely peaceful. I don't want to harm anyone or cause a disturbance.

"It's just an opportunity for some people who don't want to vote for the other candidates.

"I like to put ideas out there and see how people respond. It's come as a surprise we've had such positive feedback.

"People are willing to put a cross next to my name.

"I didn't vote to Bill. My campaign was 'don't vote for Bill'."
