Jack Wilshere makes major Mikel Arteta prediction amid Steven Gerrard Aston Villa appointment

Jack Wilshere thinks that Mikel Arteta will build a legacy at Arsenal and could be at the club for the next '10 years'.

The Spaniard has enjoyed a mixed start to his managerial career but many fans are starting to back him and his project moving forward.

Although the Gunners have finished eighth in their last two Premier League campaigns, Arteta has finally put a stamp on his own team and his young Gunners side look as though they've discovered an important unity at the club.

Arsenal are now unbeaten in their last 10 domestic games and it looks as though the Gunners have a side who will compete in the future.

With that in mind, Wilshere thinks that Arteta will be the man to help guide the Gunners back to success.

When asked whether he'd prefer newly appointed Aston Villa manager Steven Gerrard or Chelsea legend Frank Lampard - who has pulled out of the running for the vacant job at strugglers Norwich City -as the next Arsenal manager, Wilshere told talkSPORT: “None of them [Gerrard or Lampard] because Mikel [Arteta] is going to be there for the next 10 years.

“I can’t [answer that]. I don’t know. I can’t! I wouldn’t have any of them, it’s Mikel – they’re the same age.”

Eventually, after being pressed for an answer for about two minutes, Wilshere did respond by saying: “Alright… Gerrard.”

Wilshere has been training under his former teammate Arteta as he attempts to rebuild his fitness while navigating through free agency.

As he's seen how Arteta works with his players, his opinion is surely one the Gunners fans should take note of.

Whether his prediction comes true is another thing but, for now at least, Arsenal's boss is very much in control at the Emirates.
