Jack Ross plans Hibs transfer talks with Ron Gordon as he eyes double signing

Hibs boss Jack Ross hopes to add two more players to his squad - and will hold talks with chairman Ron Gordon over doing so this week.

The Easter Road boss is happy with the players he has but feels he needs to strengthen in two areas ahead of the new season to continue as best of the rest.

Hibs finished third in the Premiership last season and Ross wants to be even better this season and challenge for trophies again, but feels he needs another couple of signings.

The club also have Europa Conference League matches to concern themselves with and it means Ross wants another striker and a defender in the door.

Main man Kevin Nisbet has been linked with moves away to clubs including Celtic and Rangers while Christian Doidge has missed much of pre-season because of Covid-19.

And Ross feels he's just a bit too short ahead of the new campaign as he told Sky Sports: "We’re a bit thin at the moment in terms of having that real depth which you want to have because we want to be better than we were last season.

"We’ve been unfortunate we’ve had a few niggles and a bit of illness in pre-season that have left us a bit short but going into the season we’d like to strengthen defensively and at the top end of the pitch.

"We’ve got good players in either area but we want more of them in order to cope with the demands of the Premiership.

"We’re working hard to do it and hopefully over the next week or two week period we’ll be able to do that."

American owner Gordon is in the country and attended Tuesday night's 2-1 win over Arsenal.

Ross has revealed they will hold talks on Thursday to discuss more transfers and believes he will continue to be backed by the club.

He added: "In fairness, he’s always been very supportive even when he’s not been in the country.

"I’ll catch up with him on Thursday, it’ll be nice to see him in person. I haven’t seen him in person for a while.

"It was nice for him to be here to see the team first hand again, he’s always been supportive in terms of strengthening because he wants us to be better as well.

"It’s just about getting the right ones."
