Jack Hermansson vs. Jared Cannonier headlines UFC on ESPN+ 18 in Copenhagen

It’s official: Jack Hermansson will be headlining the UFC’s first trip to Denmark.

He will take on Jared Cannonier in the main event at UFC on ESPN+ 18, UFC officials announced Friday. News of the matchup was first reported to be in the works by Cannonier’s manager, Malki Kawa.

UFC on ESPN+ 18 takes place Sept. 28 at Royal Arena in Copenhagen, Denmark. The entire card is expected to stream on ESPN+.

Swedish-born Hermansson (20-4 MMA, 7-2 UFC) is coming off the biggest win in his career,  an upset win over Ronaldo ‘Jacare’ Souza via unanimous decision at UFC on ESPN+ 8. Currently residing in Norway, this will mark Hermansson’s second straight main event as he will get to compete close to home.

Cannonier (12-4 MMA, 5-4 UFC) is also coming off the biggest win of his career, taking out MMA legend, and arguably the greatest fighter of all time, former UFC middleweight champion Anderson Silva. Cannonier utilized an array of leg kicks, which caused a pretty nasty injury to Silva’s knee, awarding Cannonier the first round TKO win.

With the addition, the latest UFC on ESPN+ 18 lineup includes:

  • Jack Hermansson vs. Jared Cannonier
  • Thiago Alves vs. Gunnar Nelson
  • Macy Chiasson vs. Lina Lansberg
  • Ion Cutelaba vs. Khalil Rountree
  • Alessio Di Chirico vs. Peter Sobotta
  • Michal Oleksiejczuk vs. Ovince Saint Preux
  • Alen Amedovski vs. John Phillips
