Jack Harrison reveals the Marcelo Bielsa team talk that got Leeds United back to winning ways

Match-winner Jack Harrison has discussed how Marcelo Bielsa’s pre-match team talk spurred Leeds United on to victory.

Leeds claimed a 2-1 win over Newcastle United on Tuesday night in the Premier League to end their three-game winless run in all competitions and move further clear of the bottom three.

A strike from Raphinha saw the visitors take the lead on Tyneside, before Miguel Almiron equalised for Newcastle in the second half.

Soon after the equaliser, though, Harrison got on the end of nice pass from Raphinha to place the ball past Karl Darlow into the bottom corner and give Leeds the advantage once again.

Leeds would hang on for the win, and Harrison has opened up on how Bielsa’s team talk before the game helped motivate the players to go out and get the win.

“The manager talks to us before the game about having personality and character, and when you face adversity like that it can help you improve,” Harrison told BT Sport, after the final whistle.

“That was his team talk before the match and we went into this game with a lot of grit and a lot of fight, and it showed towards the end here.

Harrison continued: “We knew going into it [the game] that it would be a challenge for us, we’ve been preparing all week for this.

“We knew how important it was to come out string and we did that.”
