Jack Grealish can emulate goal machine Raheem Sterling for Man City says Pep Guardiola

Jack Grealish can become a goal machine like Raheem Sterling if he adopts his Manchester City teammate's fierce mentality.

That was the prediction of Pep Guardiola after the £100million man broke his duck for the Blues in the 5-0 hammering of Norwich - even though he knew little about the goal as Gabriel Jesus' ferocious cross bounced off his knee.

City hope it will be the first of many, and Guardiola, who helped to turn Sterling from a goal-shy wide man into a 30-goal hitman, feels says that the former Aston Villa star can do the same thing.

Sterling, who had an ordinary season last year by his own standards, got his tally underway for this season by scoring the fourth goal as a substitute against the Canaries, arriving at the far post with typically perfect timing.

And Grealish can do the same if he has the same mind-set, says Guardiola.

"If he gets the mentality to score goals like Raheem then yeah," he replied when asked whether he could emulate Sterling's rise from 21 goals in his first two seasons at City to 77 in his next three.

"Raheem when I arrived here four or five years ago didn’t have the goal in his mind. That changed. Today Raheem scored a goal because he arrived in the central position like a nine.

"He is a machine there. He has to come back in those positions. He changed his mind and decided he is going to score, score, score. If Jack has mentality like Raheem he can do it."
