Jack Draper’s Roland Garros campaign will continue this afternoon as the British No1 lines up opposite Joao Fonseca in round three.
This year has already borne Draper’s best French Open performance - he had never previously made it past the first round in Paris. He is eyeing the title after playing some of the best clay-court tennis of his career this season.
He opened the year with a win on hard courts at Indian Wells, the first masters title of his career, before reaching the Madrid Open final and Italian Open quarter-finals, which he lost to Casper Ruud and Carlos Alcaraz, respectively.
His route to round three at Roland Garros has been a challenging one - he required four sets to edge past Mattia Bellucci in the first round, before battling past the veteran Gael Monfils in a gruelling affair under the lights on Court Philippe-Chatrier.
Fonseca last met Draper at Indian Wells and was beaten in short order, losing 6-4 6-0 in the round of 64 as the Briton cruised to the final.
The up-and-coming 18-year-old is in the midst of his debut Roland Garros campaign, but faces a mighty task to progress beyond Draper.
