Jachai Polite signs with Rams after release from practice squad

The Seattle Seahawks released defensive end Jachai Polite off the practice squad on Monday, and he’s already found a new home after signing with Seattle’s NFC West rival, the Los Angeles Rams.

Polite, an edge rusher out of the University of Florida, was considered a potential first round pick at the conclusion of the college football season, even getting mocked to the Seahawks by Mel Kiper.

However, a poor performance at the combine saw him fall to the Jets in the third round, and an ugly performance in training camp and the preseason, marred by attendance issues at practice, lead to him getting released before the season started.

Seattle snapped him up on the practice squad, but evidently they felt his presence was no longer needed.

With Jadeveon Clowney, Ezekiel Ansah and L.J. Collier all healthy, alongside Quinton Jefferson, Branden Jackson and Rasheem Green, the Seahawks may feel they are all set at depth on the edge, leading to Polite’s release.

“Yeah, just moving on,” Carroll commented on Monday. “Making a spot, we’ve got another guy coming in.”

That spot on Seattle’s practice squad remains open, but it sounds like Seattle has a plan in place.
