Ivan Perisic, Djed Spence and Tottenham Hotspur's ideal summer transfer window plan

The confirmation of Ivan Perisic's arrival to Tottenham Hotspur on the eve of June was a welcome surprise. It was the first ahead of what is billed to be a busy window of incomings for Antonio Conte's side.

Conte has been lauded for his transformation of the 33-year-old, which saw Perisic temporarily swap Milan for Munich - where he added more silverware to his cabinet - before returning to the Serie A outfit and dethroning Juventus to win the Scudetto. Nine days after Champions League football was secured with an emphatic win over Norwich City, the movement marks a statement of intent from Daniel Levy and co when the Croatia international's Inter Milan contract expires this month.

But for Tottenham, the next port of call following Perisic's arrival is adding reinforcements to their defensive ranks. Alessandro Bastoni is one of the names on the list of defensive targets to arrive at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, with the 52-year-old wasting no time in securing his business early.

Although the beginning of the saga rumbles on in the pursuit of the Italian defender, Spurs has other avenues to make room as part of the clearout. One of the names linked with a move away from north London is Spanish full-back Sergio Reguilon.

"Sergio Reguilon, Spurs would listen to offers from him," football.london chief Tottenham reporter Alasdair Gold said on his YouTube channel. "I don't believe he's that desperate to get away, but if he's got Perisic and Sessegnon there (he could leave).

"With Reguilon, I think the £28m needs to be paid this summer for Spurs. It's almost a chance to balance the books by selling him. If I'm Spurs, you bring in Perisic on a free, Reguilon goes for around the £30m mark, you're not spending the £28m you had to on him anyway, and then that money can go to funds in other areas of the pitch."

Djed Spence celebrated Nottingham Forest's Championship playoff final win over Huddersfield Town with a cigar and a quip at former Middlesbrough manager Neil Warnock. The full-back is one of the names touted with a move to add competition to the right-back position, Gold added: "Other areas of the pitch, on the right-hand side, I know Spurs really like Djed Spence.

"Middlesbrough player, but he's been on loan at Nottingham Forest, went and helped them win the Playoff final, there's a lot of competition in there for him. I understand Spurs are up against Borussia Dortmund, Roma, Newcastle, Brentford and Forest. I've been speaking to various people in his camp, and there is a lot of interest - Spurs are kind of one of the frontrunners for him."
