ITV This Morning viewers distracted midway through programme over nothing to do with the show

Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield were back on screens as This Morning returned for its mid-week show. The hosting duo were once again at the helm of the ITV daytime show on Wednesday (November 2). The pair had another busy show on their hands with studio guests and the news, beauty, and cooking segments.

One of their guests, who appeared live in the studio, was the star of global hit film Encanto and the voice of Luisa Madrigal, Jessica Darrow was on the famous sofa chatting to Holly and Phillip about Disney's Christmas plans for 2022 while also sharing what it’s like being part of Disney’s biggest ever films.

Meanwhile, Sarah Jossel’s was on hand to show fancy fragrances don’t have to cost the earth with her pick of perfumes under £30, with many appearing to impress the hosts. There was also chat with 3/4 of boyband Blue, as Lee Ryan takes time off with his new baby daughter, as well as a performance from Duncan James, Antony Costa and Simon Webb.

And while viewers, as ever, were tweeting away along with the latest edition of This Morning, they became distracted - but it was nothing to do with the programme itself and actually came during the ad breaks.

That was because Marks and Spencer's have debuted their festive advert for 2022 and like many things do, it's caused a divide. This Morning viewer @Boppity_Boo34 tweeted: "M&S Xmas ad it’s 2nd November ffs #ThisMorning". While @Mofoman360 said: "Loved that M&S ad but I think I you need a second mortgage to afford all that food #ThisMorning."

But @onlysmols commented: "The legend that is Jennifer Saunders on the @marksandspencer advert, well done the advertising team of M&S #ThisMorning."

For its latest feel-good Christmas food ads, M&S has reunited two British icons. Dawn French has returned as the fairy from last year’s award-winning campaign and is this year joined by Jennifer Saunders as her adorable new sidekick, Duckie, a much-loved and well-worn dog chew toy.

With its premier during This Morning, the series of eight ads begins with the appearance of M&S's special Christmas Fairy – voiced by national treasure Dawn – leaving her perched atop the Christmas tree, looking for a new “very special friend”. Set in a cosy home, Fairy heads straight for a family dog’s basket and brings to life a tattered, yet adorable, chew toy.

As Duckie comes to life, she finds her voice and is immediately chased by an excited dog, delighted to see his favourite toy awakened. Fairy works her magic and Duckie learns to fly out of his reach as they then soar over a Christmas table spread of festive favourites.
