ITV This Morning fans baffled by 'criminal' cooking segment with Hollywood chef

This Morning has puzzled viewers with its latest cooking segment thanks to its elaborate nature. Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield were back at the helm of the programme today for another jam-packed show.

Things got off to a rather unusual start with fans of the ITV daytime show saying they were 'mortified' just seconds in. The hosting duo were also joined by the Sugababes who announced they were heading out on tour and there were phone-ins, a game of Spin to Win and more.

The cooking segment featured Hollywood chef Wolfgang Puck, famous for catering at the Academy Awards and responsible for more than 20 fine dining restaurants.

He joined Holly, 41, and Phillip, 60, live in the kitchen in the This Morning studio to make pizza. But his topping was rather unusual.

He showed viewers at home how to make a pizza topped with smoked salmon and caviar which the hosting duo were able to tuck into live on the show with a glass of Champagne. Wolfgang started by covering the homemade pizza base in smoked salmon before he started adding caviar on top.

He said: "You can put a little bit of caviar on top but you can also use salmon eggs if you'd like to. I'm putting caviar on the top," he explained as he added about four spoonfuls to the pizza. As the pricey ingredient continued to be added, Phillip asked him: "Have you got lumpfish roe or something there?"

But Wolfgang replied: "Yes you can use lumpfish roe, but I am giving caviar to you as I know you are important here so you get the best." He then said: "You can have it as an appetiser or as a main course. For us, we serve it at a bar because you can have it with a glass of champagne or a Martini and if you have a slice with that then it's perfect."

This Morning viewers, however, were disappointed by the segment due to the choice of toppings on the pizza. @S____J____S tweeted: "Caviar on a bloody pizza. Don’t think my shopping budget will stretch that far #ThisMorning." @onlysmols said: "He's putting about 50 quids worth of salmon on there and now there's caviar going on... Most expensive pizza ever! #ThisMorning."

@k_dawgggg commented: "Phillip saying that the Salmon and Caviar pizza is easy to make and we can do it at home. I’m not sure Aldi sells caviar hun #thismorning." @stephanie13175 shared: "Absolute criminal marmite spaghetti and Salmon pizza #ThisMorning." @stephanie13175 added: "Damn and I thought pineapple on pizza was bad #ThisMorning."

Others were annoyed at Wolfgang telling them not to 'be cheap' when spreading out the salmon on the already cooked pizza base. @FlopsyPickle tweeted: "'Don’t be cheap', you may be able to afford f****g salmon and caviar pizza washed down with champagne, Wolfgang. But if you hadn’t noticed, there’s a cost of living crisis in this country #ThisMorning." @DarioCJK said: "Has the cost of living crisis ended? Salmon (don’t be cheap) and caviar and now picnic coolers for £40 #ThisMorning."

But some This Morning fans just liked having Wolfgang on the show. @Colabubble commented: "#ThisMorning Salmon pizza [sick face] I mean the chef seems lovely but salmon is the one thing that does not agree with me." @Samanth22356123 tweeted: "Just tuned in. This chef is a character!… and sounds like Henning Wehn!! #ThisMorning."
