ITV This Morning cancelled on Friday for King Charles' Cardiff visit

This Morning has been cancelled tomorrow to make way for the coverage of King Charles' Cardiff visit. The new monarch will be visiting Wales' capital tomorrow for the first time since becoming King.

The King and Queen Consort will travel to Llandaff Cathedral, the Senedd, and Cardiff Castle during their visit. You can read more about the date and details here.

Ahead of the trip, Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield have confirmed This Morning will be cancelled so ITV can air coverage of the King's visit to Wales. The announcement was made on at the end of Thursday's episode which saw Katherine Jenkins join the show to pay tribute to the Queen.

"That's it for us this week," Holly told viewers at home. "We'll be off air as ITV news will have special coverage of King Charles' visit to Wales. We'll be back on Tuesday to reflect on Her Majesty's funeral."

"So there's just one left thing to say, thank you ma'am," Phil added. "We'll leave you with some fitting lyrics from our guest today, Katherine Jenkins". The show then moved into an emotional montage of Queen Elizabeth's reign alongside the heartbreaking tune We'll Meet Again.

Phillip Schofield and Holly Willoughby announced during today's show that This Morning has been cancelled tomorrow in favour of rolling news coverage about King Charles' visit to Cardiff (ITV)

It means This Morning will be off air on Friday, September 16 for the King's historic visit to Cardiff and on Monday, September 19 for the Queen's funeral. You can see all the details for this here.

Thousands of people are expected to welcome Charles III to Cardiff on his first official visit to Wales since becoming King. The monarch will travel to the capital with the Queen Consort for a service to remember Elizabeth II on Friday, September 16, before visiting the Senedd and Cardiff Castle and meeting members of the public.

His visit will see him travel to Llandaff Cathedral on Friday morning for a service of prayer and reflection to commemorate the life of his mother, while he and the Queen Consort will also meet with charities at the castle after receiving a Motion of Condolence from the First Minister in Cardiff Bay.
