ITV The Family Pile: Cast, plot and how to watch

New sitcom, The Family Pile, begins on ITV on Tuesday, January 17. The star-studded show features actors from Sherlock, Coronation Street and Downton Abbey.

The new series, which has been shot in Liverpool, centres on four sisters who have lost their parents and are packing up the family home to sell. But even in grief, their "messy lives" go on.

Who is in the cast?

Amanda Abbington (Sherlock, Mr Selfridge), Alexandra Mardell (Coronation Street, Strictly Come Dancing), Clare Calbraith (Downton Abbey) and Clare Keenan (Black Mirror, Cold Feet) play a quartet of sisters in The Family Pile. The new show deals with how their life changes after losing their parents.

Elsewhere in the cast is Kieran O'Brien (Andor, Ted Lasso), Richard People (Gangs of London, The Rig) and James Nelson-Joyce (Time, The Responder).

What is the plot?

An official synopsis from ITV reveals: "The Family Pile is a comedic exploration of one of life’s big milestones, via four sisters who have lost their parents and are packing up the family home to sell.

But even in grief their messy lives go on..."

How can you watch The Family Pile?

The Family Pile begins on ITV1 on Tuesday, January 17 at 9.30pm. There are six episodes, all half-an-hour in length. Following their release, episodes will be available on ITVX.
