ITV The Chase fans in stitches after 'oldest' quizzer leaves Bradley Walsh laughing

The Chase returned to our television screens this week and fans were certainly left entertained.

It came as the quiz show's oldest ever contestant, retired veterinary surgeon Val, was one of four players hoping to win the jackpot on the popular STV - or ITV if you're outside of Scotland - programme.

On Wednesday night, the 94-year-old was joined alongside Andrea from Blackburn, Nabeel from Manchester and Meng, originally from Melbourne, to take on the Chaser.

But Val, from Solihull, seemed to outshine his fellow quizzers and got everyone talking.

Host Bradley Walsh was in hysteric's at Val's witty remarks, reports the Daily Record, and pointed out that he was the "oldest contestant" ever to have starred on" the ITV show.

Val later admitted he also "felt like it" due to all the walking - but when asked what he would do with they money he wins, if any, he awkwardly confessed that he would bank his winning as he would "likely die" soon and the kids would get it with the player turning 95 the next month.

"It's quite a lovely and chirpy outlook you have on life Val," Bradley joked adding: "If we bag four or five grand you could get that spent on the candlesticks."

The audience then went into hysterics after he corrected the gameshow host saying: "No, I was thinking of the grave."

During the cash builder round, Val scored an impressive £5,000 as he went up against The Vixen, once again, joking that he was "sort of" happy with his winnings, as he "normally does better" when he watches his favourite programme from home.

Offering £94,000, one for "every year" of his life, Val decided to stick with his £5,000. Sadly though they didn't win the £11,000 jackpot

As well as talking about Val, people at home also noted that 50-year-old writer, Andrea 'carried the team' after providing all of the correct answers.

Sadly though it wasn't meant to be with The Vixen catching the team out with just 33 seconds left and answering all 17 questions right.

Taking to Twitter one said: "Val, god bless you sir. Meng, your shoulders must be aching from that carrying."

Another added: "NINETY FOUR years old. What a guy. Come on Val.."

"Proper rooting for 94 year old Val on #thechase" a third tweeted.
