ITV News' Nina Hossain blurts out 'fart phone' in awkward on-air blunder

ITV Lunchtime News presenter Nina Hossain accidentally said "fart phones" on air in a major slip-up.

The news presenter, 44, left fans in hysterics when she called "smart phones" "fart phones" while live on-air on Tuesday's segment.

In an awkward gaffe, the anchorwoman quickly corrected her mistake by following up the word "fart" with "smart" but it didn't go unnoticed by viewers at home.

It was all the more embarrassing the news star had been reporting on a serious segment about the rise of children using tablets.

Although she managed to remain professional with a straight face, her blunder left ITV News followers in stitches.

Nina said: "By age 10, 50% of children own a fart... smart phone".

Social media was awash with hilarious commentary on the moment Nina slipped up on-air during the lunchtime segment.

Nina is well recognised to the audience as the leading lady on ITV Lunchtime News.

She has had a long career in journalism, having bagged a traineeship at ITV Border in 1996.
