ITV Love Island's Luca Bish's sister has 'been sick from crying' after star receives death threats following clash with Gemma Owen

The sister of Love Island contestant Luca Bish has spoken out about the death threats her brother has received in recent days. Claudia, who is looking after Luca's social media accounts whilst he is in the villa, has said how the abuse has caused her to be 'sick' from crying so much.

Fishmonger Luca has recently came under fire after scenes of Gemma Owen 'flirting' with Billy Brown were exposed during Movie Night. In Friday and Sunday night's episodes, viewers saw the Islanders watch various clips from their time on the ITV2 show as secret conversations and hidden antics were aired.

On Friday night a clip titled She's Just Not That Into You showed Michael Owen's daughter Gemma seemingly agreeing with Dami Hope's 'prediction' that her head could be turned if the 'right person' walked in. A second clip then showed Billy throwing his arm around her while Luca watched on from a beanbag.

But there was more drama in store for the couple, who recently confessed their love for one another, as on Sunday night the boys' team won the quiz and chose to view a clip Good Bill Hunting, which showed more conversations between Gemma and Billy.

The video showed Billy asking if he could feed Gemma, with the international dressage rider then telling him "friends can't hug". A further clip then showed the pair chatting on a beanbag, in what Luca described as 'flirting'.

Luca evidently wasn't happy with what he saw after he fumed: "'Just bring me a f**king bird in and watch.

"Trust me when I say, if she wants to f**king play games with me, I'll play with it. I can't be with someone like that, I'm sorry."

Later in the episode, Luca, 23 asked Billy what he thought of his chats with Gemma, to which he admitted he was 'confused' and said the chats were 'flirty'.

Luca confronted Gemma, 19, by the firepit as he accused her of entertaining Billy's advances, but she was persistent that she had done nothing wrong.

Luca then called Billy over to the firepit to join them and asked "did you feel like she was flirting with you?" and Billy answered "yeah, it was just flirty banter.” Gemma then agreed:“Did we have a flirty chat? Yes.”

But as Gemma previously denied flirting, Luca replied: “But just a minute ago you said you didn’t have a flirty chat, you literally said I wasn’t flirting.” As the conversation continues Gemma insists: “I don’t think any lines have been crossed.”

Following Sunday night's episode, many viewers took to Twitter to slam Luca's accusations, with many taking Gemma's side.

But Luca's sister Claudia revealed that fans of the show took things a step to far, after admitting she had been 'sick from crying' after receiving so many death threats to his account during the episode.

The abuse came just an hour after the Love Island contestants' families and friends pledged to 'stand together against the hate'.

Luca Bish's sister released a statement on his Instagram story (Luca Bish Instagram)

A joint statement was released last night on each of this year's Islanders' social media accounts that read: "Although we have never met, we stand together today united against the hate messages and insults that some viewers seem to think is acceptable to throw at our friends, songs, daughters and family members.

"Your hate has no place on our pages or in society in general."

Sadly, just shortly after, Claudia shared a heartbreaking message on her brother Luca's Instagram story.

"Please please please stop messaging abuse. Luca can't even see it... the people that love him the most can," she wrote.

"I've just been sick from crying so much at the death threats (an hour on from the last story). How can people be so inhumane."
