ITV Lorraine viewers stunned over Shayne Ward's appearance on the programme

Lorraine viewers couldn't help but comment as Shayne Ward appeared on the show. The singer and actor was live on the programme to talk to stand-in host Christine Lampard about his return to music with a greatest hits tour in April.

Shayne confirmed the news at the end of last month that he will be heading back out on tour for the first time in eight years. The star, from Clayton, announced a string of headline shows for 2023, including a special homecoming at Manchester O2 Ritz on April 9.

And Shayne, who first found fame as the winner of the second series of The X Factor in 2005 before later turning his hand to acting and starring as Coronation Street's tragic Aidan Connor, has reflected on his return to music, 11 years after he last headlined his own tour.

"It feels right because I've had a lot of time acting in soap and in film and I want to show the kids what daddy has done previously," he told Christine before he was asked about The X Facotr. "I'm hugely proud of ['X Factor']. It was a great kickstart for all of us. I'm very, very proud of the show and it started my career. I've been doing this now for 17 years and I absolutely loved being on it.

"It was an amazing experience. I did [nearly miss the audition], I was on holiday at the time and I couldn't afford to fly back but luckily enough there was an open audition the next day so I hope it was written in the stars when I went back, yeah."

Shayne was chatting about his return to music, starting his career on the X Factor and his time on Corrie (ITV)

Shayne also shared how he is still "very proud" that he was able to raise awareness of male suicide through his role on Corrie. The 38-year-old played the character on the ITV soap from 2015 until 2018 when Aidan took his own life. And Shayne says he is still contacted by those affected by the issue today as he urged men to "never be afraid" to speak out about their mental health.

But as Shayne opened up about his varied career on the ITV show, viewers were flocking to social media as they became distracted by his bouffant hair do and his ageless appearance.

@NiickBoii tweeted: "Shayne just looks so good. Hasn’t aged a day. Wow. #lorraine." @MathewHulbert wrote: "WOW, Shayne Ward is looking mighty fine! A gorgeous man! #Lorraine." @DanPop79 chipped in: "Shayne Ward is still looking hot but not loving the hair #Lorraine."
