ITV Loose Women's Gloria Hunniford demands Denise Welch not to 'shout at her' in Meghan Markle clash

Gloria Hunniford demanded co-star Denise Welch not to 'shout at her' as a debate about Meghan Markle became loud on Loose Women. They were back on the ITV panel show on Tuesday (August 30) alongside Jane Moore and Brenda Edwards.

Among the topics they discussed this lunchtime was the Duchess of Sussex's latest bombshell interview. Over the Bank Holiday, Meghan's chat with The Cut magazine. She spoke about her estranged father Thomas Markle and reflected on the relationship between the Duke of Sussex and the Prince of Wales during the interview at her California home.

Speaking about the impact of their decision to step down as senior royals, Meghan told The Cut: "Harry said to me, ‘I lost my dad in this process’. It doesn’t have to be the same for them as it was for me, but that’s his decision."

Meghan also said that she will be “getting back on Instagram” after deleting her account more than four years ago as part of becoming a senior royal. She added that along with deleting her personal social accounts, she felt like "an actress" playing at being a member of the royal family.

Kickstarting the debate, Denise told the panel she’s been on the “Meghan Markle support wagon” ever since the former Suits star first got with Prince Harry. She then added of the media coverage of Meghan: "To live in a world where she is denigrated so badly every day, even when she was suffering incredibly mental health issues with a child, I don’t know how she survives sometimes."

Gloria joined in on the debate. However, before she could get to her point after Jane said of the situation that asking privacy and then doing an interview is a contradiction. "She wants privacy from unwanted attention," Denise said as she continued to argue her point. Gloria grabbed hold of her arm and quickly quipped back: “Don't shout at me! Just stop talking for one minute."

She argued: "I respected the fact that they wanted a bit of privacy, but now, privacy to me is you go to a different country and you do not do Oprah Winfrey, do every magazine, do all sorts of deals with Netflix..." But Denise interjected: "I disagree!"

Gloria hit back and said: "No come on, there's no point shaking your head," but Denise repeated herself and commented: "I disagree Gloria!" to which she fired back: "But just let me finish! It's a point that she did tell some - what was discovered - as fibs, lies, whatever you want to call them, in that Oprah Winfrey interview..."

"What and the royal family have never told any lies or fibs either? I think there's some whoppers we're not allowed to talk about but anyway..." Denise argued. "Hang on Denise, hang on, you've had your say," Gloria responded, before adding: "The thing is, I admire the Queen and I admire the Royal Family, and I just think Meghan undermines all the good work that she does by spinning out these lies..."

Denise, however, started to become frustrated and as she raised her voice she said: "The Queen supports Prince Andrew, Gloria! The Queen doesn't say a word about Prince Andrew!" This lead Gloria to reply: "See you can't do this without shouting," as Denise argued: "I'm not shouting at you, I'm shouting generally."

Eventually, Jane, who was anchoring the show, jumped in and tried to quieten the pair before throwing to an ad break when the panel could be heard laughing. Upon their return, Jane joked she had 'thrown cold water' over her co-stars after things got heated during the previous segment.
