ITV Lingo's Adil Ray wowed as contestant shares Emmerdale past

Adil Ray was impressed as a contestant shared his TV past on today's Lingo.

The 47-year-old broadcaster welcomed three new teams on Friday's edition of the popular ITV programme.

Dean and Greg, Doreen and Tony - and Saira and Farah - were putting their linguistic skills to the test in a bid to win a cash prize.

Dean and Greg were first up and Adil was wowed as Dean revealed it wasn't the first time he had appeared on TV.

He explained: "In the industry, I'm what is called a hired gun. They book me in for any role and every role."

The Good Morning Britain anchor probed to ask whether he had been in anything viewers would recognise.

Dean responded: "I was in Cold Feet and Emmerdale. In Emmerdale, I was wielding a shotgun actually."

The father and son from Manchester proceeded to put in an impressive performance as they progressed all the way to final after banking £3,730.

They continued their confident showing into the last round as they left the show with a whopping £7460 - and their performance received praise from Adil.

The host said: "You've been absolutely fantastic contestants. It's fair to say, Dean and Greg, you do know your Lingo."

Lingo returns on Monday at 3pm on ITV and ITV Hub
