ITV Emmerdale's Dominic Brunt spots 'issue' with British Soap Awards change

Dominic Brunt spotted a potential problem for Emmerdale in the upcoming British Soap Awards.

The actor appeared on today's edition of This Morning ahead of the ceremony this weekend. The 53-year-old has won acclaim for his portrayal of Paddy Dingle in the fictional Yorkshire village.

Dominic has won acclaim for his portrayal throughout a hard-hitting storyline as Paddy has battled depression after his wife, Chas, had an affair with Al Chapman. Dominic's performances have been recognised as he has been nominated for Best Leading Performer.

Paddy is now a part of the Dingle Family, who were crowed Best Family at last year's ceremony. However, Dominic joked that a change means he is not optimistic of recreating the success this time around.

He said: "It was a public vote before but now it's a panel vote so we probably won't win it." Dominic's co-star, Mark Charnock, was in hysterics after the comment.

He is renowned for his role as Marlon Dingle in the show and the two are best friends in the show. The actor heaped praise on show bosses for the way they developed the friendship.

He said: "We've been really lucky over the years. The writers and producers have written for us so well. We've had so much light and shade and we've been blessed.

"They give us that little bit of leeway to play around with it and do silly things. They're as close as brothers can be without being blood related.

"They love each other and they are the abiding love of each other's lives considering how many marriages we've had."
