ITV Emmerdale fans utter same three words as Paddy breaks down

Emmerdale fans' heartache continued during Friday night's episode.

Paddy Kirk has been struggling deeply with his mental health recently. It comes following his wife, Chas, having an affair with Al Chapman, who was murdered after the adultery came to light.

While Paddy is normally known for his jovial nature, recent episodes have seen him withdraw and even disappear from the village.

On Thursday night, devastated viewers saw him write a suicide note after speaking to his nearest and dearest, one by one. Unbeknown to them he was actually saying his final goodbyes.

After Bear found the letter, a helpless Marlon and the rest of Paddy's family and friends scrambled to go and find him. Rhona told Marlon and the others a bolt gun was missing from the vets' surgery and the reality of what Paddy was about to do became all too worrying.

Chas and Marlon headed to Grace's tree, and soon Marlon spotted a faint figure, Paddy, in the distance. As both men broke down in tears, Marlon's love for Paddy finally convinced his friend to put the gun down.

Emotional fans took to Twitter, with many uttering the same three words. Sam said: "Real men cry. It's okay not to be okay!", while Michael said: "Real men cry", and Cheryl added: "They need to know they can".

Nikki said: "This is a tough watch, but men need to know they can cry too. Sophie said: "Paddy is breaking my heart", and Rachel said: "Paddy and Marlon crying, I can't deal".
