ITV Emmerdale fans 'broken' over Liv's death scenes as actress Isobel Steele sends emotional message

Emmerdale fans couldn't hold it together as Liv Dingle - nee Flaherty - became the second victim of the horror windstorm that left the quaint Yorkshire village in a mass of destruction. The ITV soap character, played by Isobel Steele, became trapped underneath a rouge caravan as she and her husband Vinny attempted to make their way to The Woolpack.

The couple had tried to make their journey from their home to the pub after a panicked Paddy Kirk arrived and told stepson Aaron that his mum, Chas, was in hospital after being injured in the storm. As the pair planned to rush to be with her, vet Paddy asked Liv and Vinny if they'd mind going over to the pub to watch his and Chas' daughter, Eve.

At the end of Tuesday's episode, viewers saw Liv and Vinny crushed by the vehicle after it was swept away in the blustering wind. And on Wednesday (October 19), viewers finally discovered the pair's fate, with Vinny back on his feet desperate to help his wife. As Aaron and Paddy also rushed to help, Liv tearfully said: "I can't feel my legs."

As Aaron and Vinny attempted to free her, Paddy warned them not to as it will cause more damage and told them to wait until the emergency services arrive. After an agonising wait, it wasn't good news and it was Paddy who had to break it to Aaron, Vinny, and his mum Mandy that Liv wasn't going to make it.

Explaining why they couldn't free her, Paddy said: "They can't because where it's hit, it's pinned her down... It means the caravan, it's hit her really hard... it's crushed her lower body." As Vinny started to sob, he demanded they can't leave Liv trapped and that they had to get her out. But Paddy pointed out: "It's the only thing keeping her alive," before telling them they needed to say their goodbyes.

As Aaron, played by Danny Miller, tried to hide his devastation and told his little sister she would be alright, he added: "I couldn't ask for a better little sister, I love you so much." Vinny then came over to say goodbye as he told her about all the future travel plans they were going to do with their pet animals.

To which Liv said: "I'm so lucky to have you, I don't want to leave you," with Vinny replying: "Wherever you go next we'll be together again, I promise, we're soulmates." Liv, who has realised she was dying, then said: "I love you Vinny, I never knew anyone could make me so happy..." before closing her eyes and taking her final breath.

And Emmerdale viewers were soon sharing their upset on social media. @loulozy said: "My heart's just been broken..Liv and Vinny that was the most heartbreaking scene I've ever watched." @speakstruthveryopinionated wrote: "OMG LIV this episode has killed me." @debi_389 shared: "Well Emmerdale you have broken me tonight."

@jenni_harrison1 tweeted: "Absolutely sobbing my heart out #Emmerdale why do this to me!! Poor Liv." @lynxi123 posted: "OMG @emmerdale you have broken me!!! Sitting here sobbing #emmerdale." @milly_aw added: "I can’t believe this episode tonight, how can they kill off Livliterally in tears omg #emmerdale."

Isobel's exit comes after rumours she had quit the soap after six years. Taking to Instagram with a full cast snap and behind-the-scenes images from filming her final scenes, the soap actress said an emotional goodbye. " And that’s a wrap on Liv Dingle," she typed. " Hard to put into words what this show and the people in it mean to me and how big a decision it was to leave.

"Thank you to every single person I ever worked with and to those that pushed me to be a better person and a better actor. Thank you to everyone who watches the show and has supported me throughout, none of it went unnoticed. Thank you to Kate Oates, Ian MacLeod & Jane Hudson.

"I love you all so much, you know who you are. The most bizarre and wonderful place to have grown up. I’m gonna miss it so much." She ended her message: "On to the next," before being flooded with messages from her co-stars, past and present.

Marlon Dingle legend Mark Charnock said: "What a performance. You’re ace. Go get ‘em." Lawrence Robb, who stars as Mackenzie Boyd, wrote: "You were utterly wonderful my girl. Well done. Love yah." Amy Wyatt star Natalie Ann Jamieson cried: "Not a dry eye to be seen. Well done gorge - can’t wait to see where your talent takes you next! We miss ya already."

Rosie Bentham, who plays Gabby Thomas in the ITV soap, simply said: "BRB crying," while Dawn Fletcher actress Olivia Bromley replied: "My heart." Emile John, who plays Ethan Anderson, told her: "Absolutely smashed it to pieces, you are a beaast. Go fly highhh." While former Emmerdale star Simon Lennon, who was killed off as Ben Tucker earlier this year, wrote: "Love you, mate! Absolute star."
