ITV Dancing On Ice fans ask how Corrie's Ryan Thomas knows Kimberly Wyatt as he supports Pussycat Doll

Dancing On Ice had another famous face in the audience as former Coronation Street star Ryan Thomas cheered on two of the celeb skaters.

In Sunday night's show Ryan, who played builder Jason Grimshaw in the ITV soap, was joined by his mum Gail as he supported his former co-star Sally Dynevor who is partnered with pro skater Matt Evers.

Sally, who faced elimination in a skate-off with The Happy Mondays dancer Bez, has previously been supported by Brooke Vincent and Helen Flanagan who plays her on-screen daughters Sophie and Rosie Webster.

"Supporting my girls," he wrote on his Instagram Stories as he tagged in both Kimberly and Sally.

Viewers were surprised when he told host Holly Willoughby that he was backing American dancer and singer Kimberly, a member of the girlgroup Pussycat Dolls who have had worldwide success with the singles Don't Cha, Stickwitu and Buttons.

@SaraFlay took to Twitter to ask: "Are we all wondering how Ryan Thomas knows Kimberly Wyatt?"

@gembob86 replied: "Yep. Came to Twitter hoping to find the answer."

And @Paul_H83 said: "Good friends with her husband, apparently…"

Last year Kimberly turned out with her husband, Ryan's old friend Max Rogers, and their three kids to encourage the star as he walked 10 marathons in 10 days - a total of 262 miles - to raise money for the mental health and suicide prevention charity CALM.

Ryan, who played Jason in Corrie from 2000 to 2015, walked from Buckingham Palace, making his way back to Manchester on foot.

And the family joined him in Milton Keynes.

Kimberly shared photos of her daughters holding up banners for the Manchester actor, whose whose fiancee Lucy Mecklenburgh is expecting their second child.

She wrote: "Proud mum moment!

"Our very good friend @ryanthomas84 is walking from London to Manchester in honor of #mentalhealthawarenessweek for @calmzone and today we joined him!!!

"This was the moment we stood in solidarity with Ryan as a family and showed our support in his brilliant effort on day 3 of walking 10 marathons in 10 days!!!

"What an incredible conversation to have with our girls about why he is doing it and what mental health is all about.

"How cool to get to see him in action and show what charitable efforts can do for others whether it’s raising money, awareness or bringing people together to make a difference.

"Willow’s sign says: 'Ryan I see you are in pain their is only 7 more days to go Ryan. Wow you are so amazing! Love Willow’"

She added: "Ultimately I realized today that when you are surrounded by friends and laughter all your worries seem to disappear even if only for the moment.

"When you know you’re not alone and you are loved and supported - you find comfort.

"As Ryan and I chatted during his epic journey today we chatted about the fact you never know what someone is going through..... just be kind!!!!"
