ITV Coronation Street viewers make plea as Abi Franklin involved in car crash horror

Coronation Street fans were left reeling after Abi Franklin ended up in a horror crash just after secretly giving birth.

In Monday's dramatic hour-long episode, the wayward mechanic gave birth to a baby boy after having no idea she was pregnant.

High on drugs and alcohol she was speeding along a country road in a stolen car with her drug dealer when she doubled over in agony and was left at the side of the road.

She later abandoned the baby after being taken to hospital and giving birth under a fake name.

Back on the Coronation Street cobbles Tyrone Dobbs told her that if they don’t retrieve the sports car stolen from her husband Kevin Webster's garage, the business is finished.

So in Wednesday's instalment Abi hatched a plan to ensnare her dealer Dean Turnbull and to get the car back to its owner.

Spotting a BMW she met Dean at his lock-up and while he inspected the car Abi called the police to report him.

However, overhearing her call, Dean knocked Abi out and locked her inside his garage.

After regaining consciousness, and realising that she was bleeding after the birth, Abi made a desperate move to escape by clambering inside the original stolen car.

Driving at speed to break down the doors, Abi crashed into a skip and was out cold again.

Horrified viewers took to Twitter to have their say.

@jassij1984 pleaded: "Please can someone give poor Abbie in #corrie a break?!"

@alikingsevie said: "Seeing abi self destruct just breaks my heart."

@scipfish tweeted: "Abi's luck is bad."

And @Beckie_Miller_asked: "Abi isn’t having much luck is she?"

Abi's baby drama came after Kevin discovered that she had a fling behind his back.

When he told her to pack her things she relapsed and reached for cocaine and booze.

But he doesn't know that she had a one-night stand with solicitor Imran Habeeb following the trial for the murder of her son Seb in September.
