ITV Coronation Street gives first look at Abi's baby as fans confused by pregnancy timeline

Coronation Street has teased what is next for Abi Franklin after delivering the mother of all surprises on Sunday night.

The soap made a rare weekend appearance on ITV after the weekday schedule was disrupted by football coverage. It also comes ahead of a major schedule change for both Corrie, Emmerdale, and its rival soap EastEnders.

But back to the episode, fans were left shocked when Abi went into labour at the side of a road after being left alone by her drug dealer, Dean.

In recent scenes viewers have watched Abi relapse after husband Kevin Webster discovered she had had a one-night stand and left her behind.

But he returned home during Sunday's trip to the cobbles to find his estranged wife on the sofa with Dean, both high on drugs and alcohol, and looking cosy as he massaged her back for her as she complained of being in pain.

After a furious Kevin called time on their relationship for good, Abi continued to spiral and carried on taking drugs with Dean.

But Abi's new friend couldn't be trusted and he was soon seen pinching the keys to Kevin's garage and stealing a customer's car. Not willing to let it happen, Abi jumped in the passenger seat and made a grab for the key, but Dean was soon careering down a country road in the stolen car.

Abi, however, is really struggling and ends up trying to ease her agony by crouching at the side of the road and asking Dean to take her to the hospital, but he got back in the vehicle and left Abi alone on the country lane.

The character, played by Sally Carman, then dropped a bombshell by calling for an ambulance, telling the operator 'I'm having a baby' before her phone cut dead and viewers were left wondering if Abi and her unborn child will be ok.

Following the episode, Coronation Street shared a mini teaser to show what happens next, staring with Abi being looked after by a nurse in hospital who tells her: "We need to get him or her out now."

The tiny baby is then briefly seen in an incubator as nurse Aggie Bailey asks for more details about the mother after Abi gave a false name.

The hospital staff return to Abi's bedside to find her gone and the twenty-second clip ends with Abi in a car hurtling out of a locked-up garage into a skip, leaving her slumped at the wheel.

But the baby bombshell has left fans completely confused.

@JarryRobron tweeted: "How was she pregnant when she told imran that all good and nothing to worry about. So it ment that she wasn’t pregnant so how is that even possible."

"Abi slept with imran well over six months ago so she can’t be pregnant where’s the bump or weight gain!? #Corrie," @CasparPie said.

@itsamy_xo shared: "WAIT ABI IS PREGNANT?!? it’s Kev’s right? dates wouldn’t be right for it to be Imran’ if she’s in labour. Cryptic pregnancies are so common but I hope she hasn’t done any damage with her shenanigans this week & I hope Kev sorts it out with her. they deserve to be a family #corrie."

"Obviously gonna be imrans - has it been 9 months though since they slept together , and did she know all along she’d was pregnant and lied to imran when she said everything was ok a few months back," Samantha added on Facebook.
