ITV Coronation Street fans taken aback as Ken Barlow told he's 'under arrest'

Coronation Street viewers were surprised to see Ken Barlow accused of being a criminal getaway driver.

As Ken thinks he's doing his friend a favour, it soon turns out he's being accused of criminal behaviour as he finds himself in the wrong place at the wrong time. After being stopped by the police, the 90-year-old received more than he bargained for.

Stu asks for Ken's help driving to a wholesalers where the fiasco takes place. Several minutes after arriving, Stu is seen running back to the car with a police officer some distance behind him, yelling "You're under arrest."

Arriving at the car, the police officer accuses Stu of attempted breaking and entering and Ken of being his getaway driver. Visibly flustered, Ken can barely string a sentence together but manages to dispute the claims.

Corrie viewers found the situation hysterical as they shared a string of tweets filled with laughing emojis and humorous gifs. One comment said: "these two old rogues, brilliant. #corrie." Another said: "Ken and Stu - Weatherfield's answer to Bonnie and Clyde. #Corrie."

A third comment said: "Viva Ken Barlow. 90-year-old getaway driver #Corrie." Despite the clear mix-up, Ken managed to get off the hook whereas Stu was questioned at the police station. Eventually released, Stu was told he was very lucky considering his track record.

Coronation Street airs at 8pm on Monday, Wednesday and Friday on ITV and ITV Hub
