Nina, played by Mollie Gallagher, was sporting a new blonde look in her latest storyline as she attempts to stop her gilrfriend Asha Alahan travelling to Glasgow.

The popular cafe worker has been struggling with panic attacks following the brutal murder of her boyfriend Seb Franklin in May last year and she fears for Asha's safety.

The character was at the forefront of the soap drama in the harrowing hate crime storyline as goth Nina and Seb were set upon over the way she looks.

Mollie, who has played Nina Lucas since November 2019, won the Serial Drama Performance gong at the National Television Awards in September for the role.

Asha wants to apply for Glasgow University but worries about leaving Nina when she’s so vulnerable.

This week, having spotted the prospectus in Asha’s bag, Nina puts on a brave face and encourages her to enjoy a day out in Glasgow.

But when she learns there are floods expected in Glasgow, a panicky Nina shares her fears about Asha’s train journey.

Then there's drama when Asha calls in at the cafe to see Nina before setting off to Glasgow, and Nina pockets her phone.

Asha’s shocked to find Nina’s taken her phone as she refuses to let her go to Glasgow, and she's alarmed when Nina locks the cafe door to stop her leaving.
