ITV confirm Paul O'Grady's new series For the Love of Dogs will air as planned

The world of showbiz and the public are mourning the death of TV legend Paul O'Grady after he passed away on Tuesday, March 28. Paul was known for his drag act Lily Savage, his chat shows and later in life, his passion for dogs and now ITV has confirmed that his new series Paul O'Grady: For the Love of Dogs will air as originally scheduled.

The new 11th series of Paul O'Grady: For the Love of Dogs will begin on Thursday, April 13 as originally planned before Paul's unexpected death. The show will air at 8.30pm on ITV1.

The much-loved show is set at the Battersea Dogs and Cats Home and throughout the series, Paul has met members of the Battersea staff to talk about the dogs in their care. In each episode, Paul's always in his element each episode as he meets the pooches who come to Battersea as strays or because their owners can't look after them anymore, and follows each dog's progress through the home.

On Wednesday, March 29 the normal airing of the gameshow The Chase, hosted by Bradley Walsh, will be removed and instead Paul O'Grady's For the Love of Dogs: A Royal Special will be repeated on ITV1, having originally aired in December 2022. The show was in celebration of 160 years of Battersea Dogs and Cats Home and Paul was joined by Camilla, now Queen Consort, in the show.

Further scheduling changes include at 8pm on Sunday, April 9 ITV1 will be broadcasting For the Love of Paul O'Grady, which will be a special tribute to Paul. You can keep up to date with the latest TV and showbiz news by signing up to the newsletter here.

ITV's Managing Director of Media and Entertainment, Kevin Lygo spoke on behalf of ITV. He said: "We are fortunate to have had a long association with Paul, at ITV. He was a huge, inimitable talent, delighting our viewers through his comedy and entertainment with a warmth, humour and joy that audiences of all generations related to and connected with. He had a profound passion for animals too, which resonated with so many viewers, and For The Love of Dogs remains one of our best-loved series, and a really special programme for so many. All those who worked with Paul are shocked and deeply saddened at his passing and the thoughts of everyone at ITV are with Paul’s loved ones."
