ITV Britain's Got Talent viewers divided as they say another act was 'robbed' of Alesha Dixon's Golden Buzzer

By Jessica Sansome

It would be fair to say this year's golden buzzer acts on Britain's Got Talent have got viewers talking. The very first a few weeks ago, chosen by Amanda Holden, heard fans crying 'unfair' while hosts Ant and Dec's choice, magician Keiichi Iwasaki, was hit with 'fix' claims after it emerged he appeared on three other of the franchise's shows around the world.

During the latest episode of the ITV talent show on Saturday night (May 14) it was just Alesha Dixon who was left to trigger the confetti cannons for one of the auditioning acts. And she chose musical duo Flintz & Taylor.

Flintz, 22, performed his autobiographical track 'Change' while 17-year-old Taylor provided the music on the piano. And it was quite a moment for the pair as not only were they auditioning in front of the judges and thousands packed into the London Palladium, but it was also the first time they had even met.

As they took to the stage before their audition, the pair revealed that they had only met in real life on the day of the audition after connecting on Instagram during lockdown. But they had nothing to fear as their raw performance saw the judges and the audience on their feet.

And before hitting the golden buzzer, Alesha told the duo: "Nothing makes me more happy than seeing young musicians. You had something to say Flintz, we've had no-one on the show like you before which is brilliant." and as she got from her seat, she added: "And they say in life, 'Save the best till last!'"

Alesha's backing means the lads will definitely perform in the semi-finals later this month where it will be up to the public to decide who makes it through to the grand final alongside the four other golden buzzer act which includes a Greatest Showman singer and heartwarming dance group Born To Perform.

But BGT viewers were soon taking to social media to have their say - and Alesha's choice caused quite the divide as they felt another act was 'robbed' of being fast-tracked through to the live shows.

@TinyPurplePug said: "Sorry but that Korean magician was robbed, should’ve got the golden buzzer he was outstanding #BGT." @WoWnut tweeted: "Golden buzzer??? I thought the magician was better but what do I know. #BGT."

@alecstation1 Is she having a f***ing laugh. That Korean kid was a million times better. #BGT." @jemmabondc shared: "No offence to the hip hop duo, they were great, but the Korean magician was robbed of that golden buzzer act #BGT."

But @akaMrsO wrote: "Well done Alesha that was definitely worth the golden buzzer. Lovely lads. #BGT." @cityzen_96 tweeted: "Now THAT is a golden buzzer. Excellent act. Incredibly moving. The 10 seconds of silence after the act showed that the whole room was moved. Fantastic stuff @BGT #bgt."

Junwoo impressed viewers with his stylish magic tricks (ITV)

@Haleb_4_ever argued: "Tbh it's definitely golden buzzer worthy, they were brilliant #bgt." @nataliewhibley8 added: "The two lads just smashed it!!! They are going to win, such a strong beautiful message well done boys #BGT."

Junwoo, 23, from South Korea, performed incredible sleight of hand card tricks to music with the routine leaving the four judges - Alesha, Amanda Holden Simon Cowell, and David Walliams - impressed and viewers at home wondering just how he did it.

David told him: "You found a whole new way of presenting magic. You've just got a real star quality." While Simon gave the compliment of all compliments by saying: "I think you are brilliant. Your stage presence is sensational. You're one of the best magicians we've seen all year."
